yard transformation

About three weeks ago Nate and I started our lawn transformation. We had a putting green for grass with bark(mud) bordering; which isn't the best for two dog. So we started our wheel barreling. We filled wheel barrels full of bark, dirt, sod, rocks, tree roots, everything to the front yard. I will never push a wheel barrel for 10 years. I forgot to take a photo of our front yard, but we sure looked like white trash. We had huge piles of all the back yard stuff and then threw our deck mess on top! It was there until we got the truck from Phil (my boss) to fill and take to the dump. He also owns a landscaping business and hooked us up with our project. We are very grateful for him and everything he did to help us out. We had to prep the back yard for his workers to help us lay the sod. It was a chore and I am so glad it is over!

Here are some photos of the process.

DECK REMOVING

TREE ROOT REMOVAL

This is only a 1/4 of the tree roots we had to shovel, ax, and pull
out of the ground. It was a spider web of roots!

This is how he thought laying on the deck would be most comfortable.
He stayed like this for a bit, surprisingly.

Nate and I built our new stairs! We wanted to enjoy the patio
and not be looking into the neighbor's yards all the time.

Phil was showing Nate what to do.

Nate's work he did the night before. He was having so much fun. I finally
called him in around 9:15. A little late to be Bobcating

TOP SOIL LEVELED

START THE SOD!

Take note to the fence. That is what Bobcating in the dark will do ;)

Finally, we have grass!!  My dream come true.  And we still LOVE each other.
We actually make a great team. My brains and his muscles...just kidding, Nate!
We needed each of us to tackle this long project. We are talking about the next project to start.
Secretly, I don't want to do anything for a long time!

Birthday Boy!

Yesterday was Nate's Birthday. The big 2-5!!! We had sushi for lunch, a delicious dinner at Purple with a bottle of wine for dinner and two New York Cupcakes for dessert. YUMM-O! You can see what is a must when we celebrate--food. :) Happy Birthday, Nate! Love you!

I wonder what it is....He couldn't guess it. I did a really good job this year by keeping it a secret.  I will post another photo once he puts it together!

Hard at work. He wouldn't leave his chair to blow out his candles!

And no girlfriends!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter, everyone!!

We had a joyous, quite Easter feast with our friends. 13 of us enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal. (turkey not ham) Very yummy. Also, the strong men carried our little porch to the backyard! The dogs no longer have to leap outside or inside. I am sure they were more thankful than me having to sit down to crawl out of the house.

The Final Four is also over. The winner of the Clark Nuber bracket...drum roll please.....brummmm drrummm.......BRIDGER!!! 250 smack-a-roos!  This is the first time Nate, I mean Bridger, has won a bracket competition. Woo Hoo!
